Founded in 2010, African Partners for Child Poverty (APPCO) works to address the causes and effects of poverty through development, relief, and advocacy.
With a focus on preventing family separation and gender-based violence, APPCO’s programs combine family strengthening with education, protection, and emerging initiatives in climate resilience in rural communities.
In 2022, APPCO reached over 13,200 children through its education and protection programmes. Key activities included implementing the Play-Up model in 15 early childhood development centres, parent-led school feeding initiatives, disability screenings and referrals, safe spaces for adolescent girls, and the establishment of child protection committees.
APPCO’s work aligns with Family for Every Child’s priorities by strengthening child protection systems, supporting child participation, and promoting family-based care, using sustained, locally grounded, and evidence-informed approaches.
