Addressing the most serious rights violations affecting children in Chile
Paicabi has developed models for working with children who have been abused including those who have experienced sexual abuse, social exclusion and commercial sexual exploitation.
Paicabi runs 25 programmes in three regions reaching 2,000 children a month with a staff of 400. They are part of a government committee on child rights and child protection and several national and international networks. They also work with schools, family courts and communities.
Approach
Paicabi provides psycho-therapeutic support for families, as well as legal support and social education to families and communities. Their model of working with families is based on family constellations and transgenerational abusive behaviour.
They have a resource centre to undertake studies on their experience of working with children, families and communities. They offer training to other NGOs, professionals and government officials, and run postgraduate diploma courses.
Paicabi also advocates for a comprehensive child protection system and works to enhance the national legislation currently being drafted.
