Founded in 1999, the Refugee Law Project (RLP) provides legal, social, and educational support to refugees, asylum seekers, and host communities in Uganda.
RLP’s work focuses on access to justice, forced migration, and transitional justice, while also addressing issues related to governance, conflict, gender, sexuality, and social development.
RLP combines legal assistance with psychosocial support, livelihoods programming, research, and advocacy, and uses media to highlight issues affecting displaced and marginalized communities. Its work is informed by evidence, documentation, and policy engagement, helping to shape more effective responses to displacement and social challenges.
In 2024, RLP reached over 18,000 individuals, including more than 13,000 refugees and 5,400 members of host communities, through integrated legal, psychosocial, educational, and advocacy services, supporting both immediate needs and longer-term social development.
