In 1976 various agencies working with unmarried parents formed a federation to channel efforts to improve the quality of the services provided to unmarried parents and their children.
Treoir’s work is rooted in empowering unmarried parents through knowledge, support, and advocacy to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all families in Ireland. They work collaboratively to strengthen family rights and services.
Treoir hosts Kinship Care Ireland (KCI) is a national programme hosted by Treoir. KCI promote the recognition, rights and entitlements of children, young people, and carers in kinship families, through the provision of information, support and advocacy, for systems and legislative change.
