Please help us do all we can to support those that are.
All children should be able to enjoy the warmth of a loving home and family, especially at this time of year. Unfortunately, for so many this will remain a faraway dream.
In this season of goodwill, we’d like to ask you to help support the children and families who find themselves trapped in the midst of an emergency. Across the world, children always pay the highest price in emergency situations, especially in conflicts such as those in the Middle East and Ukraine. They need our support, now more than ever.
A donation to our Christmas Appeal will help us support more children, now and into the New Year.

Looking ahead into 2024
- As a global alliance, we are striving to make 2024 bigger and more impactful than ever before. As our network of civil society organisations continues to grow, we are working collaboratively to increase our impact for children and families worldwide, thanks to our generous donors.
- In 2024, you will see our New Zealand programme grow, with more local advocacy work and impact for care-experienced tamariki and rangatahi in Aotearoa.
- Blue Umbrella Day is coming back in April, raising awareness for and preventing sexual violence against boys and young men, and we’re planning the biggest global campaign to date.
- Our podcast will continue with new episodes dropping regularly, continuing a valuable educational resource of professional insights and knowledge sharing for global work in child protection.
- Our global community of changemakers will continue working together in Family’s focus areas and connect via the Changemakers For Children platform to exchange research, advocacy, strategies, learn and collaborate on creating positive change for children globally.
- All funds raised from our generous giving community will be used to support those children and families that most need the support. We will increase our impact and continue to focus on our existing thematic areas in the coming year – Sexual violence prevention, children on the move and kinship care.
- We will work to further strengthen our humanitarian crisis response, with a new initiative launching early in the new year. Our structure, which combines a wide geographic reach with deep local roots, means that we are well-placed to take swift and effective action when needed.
- We are already experienced in local, national and regional advocacy. Next year, we will build on this to develop our global-level advocacy; focusing on decolonisation and the role of local civil society organisations in humanitarian contexts. Our newly-attained United Nations consultative status at the Economic and Social Counil (ECOSOC) will play an important role in this advocacy work by providing a high-level platform through which we can speak to people in power.
