Family has achieved UN Consultative status through The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This Consultative status allows Family to actively participate in the work of the UN and to directly contribute to policy development, marking a major step in our alliance’s journey.
Our participatory research work with children on the move has been featured by US-based advocacy organisation ‘First Focus’, as part of their ‘Big Ideas 2023’ journal. The publication shares innovative solutions to issues such as child homelessness, education reform, economic justice, and children’s health care. Read the article here.
On 12th February we supported our member organisation Taller De Vida in Colombia, as they worked with their community to raise awareness for Red Hand Day (or Día De Las Manos Rojas). Red Hand Day is an international call-to-action campaign to bring an end to and raise awareness for the illegal recruitment of children and adolescents as child soldiers. Actions took place around the world in schools, communities and through social media.
We also supported member organisation EPIC, based in Ireland, in raising awareness of Care Day on 17th February. #CareDay23 aimed to address the stigma that children and young people with experience of living in care can face.
