We’re an alliance of organisations working in local communities around the world to create a brighter future for children and families. Here we introduce Together Trust, based in North West England.

Together Trust is one of North West England’s leading disability charities. They help children, adults, parents and carers, delivering individual care, support and education to thousands of people each year. They do this through a wide range of services, from providing homes where young people can feel safe and supported, to running specialist schools, and offering therapy and specialist support to families who need it.

Alongside direct support, Together Trust also campaigns on the issues that matter to the people they work with. This means that as well as making everyday life better, they’re making sure the future is brighter, too.

‘Keep Caring to 18’ is a recent campaign that has been grabbing attention. It advocates for the rights of the thousands of children aged 16 and 17 who are being housed by the UK Government in unregulated and unsupported accommodation, such as B&Bs and bedsits. These children are being left to fend for themselves without any adult care.

A recent independent review into children’s social care in England has recommended that no child is placed in a home without care, but the government is yet to act. There are children still living like this right now. These children are disproportionately likely to enter the criminal justice system and, sadly, even die young. Together Trust is calling for urgent action.

Campaigns like this show how Together Trust is championing the rights, needs and ambitions of the people they support. And now they stand side by side with dozens of like-minded organisations as part of our global alliance, giving new opportunities to be heard internationally.
