Make your vote a Tick 4 Kids this upcoming election!

What needs to be done to improve life for children and young people in Aotearoa? We asked political parties, so you can ensure your vote supports children’s rights in 2026

Tick 4 Kids is an initiative run by a collective of organisations in Aotearoa who, like Family for Every Child, want to see children’s rights honoured and respected.

We believe in people power. In these upcoming elections, we want to help you understand which political parties are committed to policies that are set to improve the rights, wellbeing and lives of children and young people across New Zealand. So, we asked political parties directly, and the questions that we asked cover nine key areas that affect young people.

We then put these questions and each party’s answer into a set of score cards, so voters can get a direct overview of the position that political parties hold when it comes to issues impacting children and young people.

The Tick 4 Kids score cards are here!

Policy shapes our communities and society, and can help support parents to meet their children’s needs. Supporting the wellbeing of children and young people improves the lives of all, but getting an overview of where political parties stand when it comes to key issues can be challenging. This is why Tick 4 Kids exists. Find the score cards below.

Family for Every Child is proud to be a part of a large coalition, working together under the Tick 4 Kids banner.

About Family for Every Child

What do we stand for?

Our vision

Our hearts are set on a world where every child has the chance to thrive in a safe, loving family. Our work creates lasting change for children and families who face adversity, trauma and displacement.

Our approach

Every community is unique, so solutions must be too. We partner with local organisations who know their communities best and foster change at the system level. Everything we do is led by local culture, backed by research and shaped by children and families themselves.

Who we are

We are a global network created by local civil society organisations to protect children’s rights and strengthen families. Today, our network includes 58 organisations in over 45 countries, working together to drive change in the systems that impact families and shape children’s lives. We influence policy and practice by sharing knowledge and documenting innovative, locally-rooted approaches. Our collective research provides critical evidence for advocacy campaigns at national and international levels.
