0972345Climbing the world’s highest mountain on an exercise bike? It’s quite the challenge – and Santiago, a supporter of Family for Every Child in Mexico, is taking it on to raise money for our Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund.

He will attempt the virtual ride on his trainer exercise bike in his home on May 30. People who want to support him will be able to watch on his Instagram Live page at @sarenas.p.

Adam Mileusnic, of Family for Every Child, said: “Santiago’s challenge is just mind-blowing. We’ll be supporting him by tuning in to his live ride and we’re so grateful for his commitment.”

Santiago hopes that people will support him by making a donation to the charity online at justgiving.com/Santiago-Arenas.

The funds raised all go to the charity’s Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund, helping children in 36 countries around the world, including Mexico. Other cyclists have also been taking part in indoor cycling challenges as part of the charity’s Connect and Ride initiative.

Mr Arenas said: “It will be the hardest thing I’ve ever done on a bike, but it will help children, so it’s worth it.”
