Children on the move
Many of our members work to protect and help migrant children reintagrate in safe communities
The issue
The number of migrant children (children who are forced to live a life on the move) is increasing. Over the past 10 years, the number of children forcibly displaced has doubled. There are an estimated 35.5 million child migrants globally.
We believe all children deserve love, safety and support from people who care. This means we need to protect children on the move.
Across our network, local organisations work closely with children who have lost their homes, their families, or both. They help them find safety, a sense of belonging, access education and healthcare, and secure the legal documentation they need to rebuild their futures.
Our contribution:
The supporting integration toolkit for practitioners
A guide for working with children and young people on the move
This toolkit was created through a three-year collaboration with 12 child protection organisations in nine countries, shaped by research, young people’s voices, and on-the-ground practice. First launched as a downloadable guide, it is now available in multiple languages. It provides practical support to improve protection and care for children on the move worldwide.
Sharing insights
Our members take what we’ve learned to the world stage. As consultants to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, we push for policies that protect children displaced by conflict, climate change, and injustice.
Our global member network
Work to support children on the move
Our member organisations have been working together to publish reports, toolkits for practitioners who support children on the move, and important research to help organisations around the world better care for and protect children who have been displaced. Take a look at some of our work below!
A global campaign

Research
All children have a right to safety, health, education, love support and family. Our library shows our research into the best care for migrant children
