I spoke to a fundraiser in person/over the phone, do they work for Family? Were they legitimate?

Our incredible fundraising teams work right across New Zealand, working hard to inspire donors like you to support FFEC, so that we can be there for vulnerable children worldwide when they need us. They do this in a range of locations, including in the highstreet, private sites such as shops/shopping centres, going door-to-door as well as speaking with people over the phone. All of our fundraisers should be clearly branded and wearing identification, but you can also reach out to our supporter care team to check if an individual is working on behalf of FFEC by contacting us.

Can I hold an event/activity for Family?

Thank you for considering holding an event on our behalf. Get in touch with our supporter care team via our contact us page to let us know what you’re planning.

Where does Family work?

Family For Every Child is a global alliance of more than 40 local organisations working together to improve the lives of vulnerable children around the world.

Why don’t you have an office?

Our Secretariat (the ‘Family team’) is small but global with staff living and working around the world. To ensure we keep admin costs low, FFEC has adopted a remote working model, meaning we can spend more of our funds on improving the lives of children worldwide.

Our team supports our strategy through facilitation of projects, knowledge collection and dissemination, publications, scoping of new members and fundraising and communications.

How will my donation be used?

We don’t have the spending power of some of the big names in the charity sector, so that means that we have to invest in fundraising so we can keep going long into the future. Because we’re a young charity, made up of lots of small organisations around the world, we’re working hard on being financially sustainable. That will mean that the people and organisations that make up our alliance will be able to keep on being a vital lifeline for children and families for many years to come. We’re still in our first few years here in New Zealand, so about a third of our income is reinvested in strengthening our profile so we can raise more funds now and in the future. The remainder goes on charitable activities that support the work of the people and organisations that make up our alliance. That work includes lots of different types of projects, including education, psychological wellbeing, domestic violence, children living without adult care, children on the move, sexual violence, children in conflict with the law, child labour, foster care, kinship care, adoption and much more. Visit this page to learn more about how we spend funds we receive.

Can I support a specific child, region or project?

From time-to-time we raise money for a specific purpose, usually in response to an emergency or crisis that children are caught up in globally. Please sign up to our newsletter by completing the form at the bottom of this page, or follow us on social media, and we will let you know when we need this type of support. Most of the time though, we ask our donors to give an unrestricted gift, this means we can ensure that your donation goes directly to where it’s most needed.

Can I claim a tax rebate on my donations?

We have applied for donee status in NZ , which will allow our donors to claim a rebate on any donations given to Family. This will likely be approved and take effect from 1st April 2022. Please be advised that this is a high priority for us, and we are doing everything we can to update our status for the financial year 2022-23.

Can I make a one-off donation?

Of course, thank you so much for supporting Family for Every Child and the vulnerable children we support worldwide. You can give a gift by clicking Donate in the top right corner of your screen.

How long do I need to donate for?

Giving a regular gift to Family makes a huge difference, core supporters like you allow us to plan ahead and work alongside children and communities for as long as needed. We only ask that you give for as long as you’re able to.

Do you receive any government funding?

We do not, all of our work is completely funded by our generous supporters like you.

Are you religiously or politically affiliated?

Although we are not affiliated with any political organisation of religion, we work with and support children and communities from all backgrounds, denominations and faiths. We’re equally grateful to receive much needed support from people from every walk of life.

Can I leave Family for Every Child a gift in my Will?
