About Us

Family for Every Child is a global alliance of more than 50 local civil society organisations working on the frontline with children and families in need. Rooted in communities across Africa, Asia, the Pacific, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East, our members bring deep knowledge of what children and families need – and the local wisdom to make change happen.

Our Vision

We believe in a world where every child grows up in a safe, caring family environment, and where every family has access to the support they need to survive and thrive.

How We Work

Our strength lies in the power of local expertise. Each member of our alliance has years of experience working directly with children and families, bringing lived experience and community-based solutions to the global stage.

Individually, small local organisations may struggle to be heard. Together, we amplify their voices – sharing solutions, exchanging best practice, and campaigning for children’s rights at national and international levels. This united voice ensures that those working with children on the frontline every day can influence systems and policies that shape lives worldwide.

We Achieve Impact Through:

  • Research and evidence on child protection and family support.
  • Knowledge exchange, sharing solutions across borders.
  • Humanitarian responses tailored to local contexts.
  • Campaigns and advocacy for children’s rights worldwide.
  • Connecting practitioners, our Changemakers for Children platform provides a space for practitioners to share their expertise and experience and drive change.

Our Focus Areas

Family for Every Child addresses the most pressing issues facing children globally:

Children on the Move

Supporting displaced children fleeing war, oppression or climate change, often without caregivers through local partnerships and a practitioner toolkit.

Kinship Care

Advocating for recognition and support of kinship care – the most common form of alternative care, used by one in ten children globally.

Preventing Sexual Violence

Our Blue Umbrella Day campaign, held on April 16 each year, raises awareness of sexual violence against boys and has been supported by organisations in multiple countries.

Our story

The thriving alliance we have formed today was once a traditional charity headquartered in the UK, that worked with partner organisations abroad. After realising that truly transformational change for children and families would only happen if it was driven by those living in the communities we served, we set off on a journey to shake up the way we worked and radically rethink the international aid sector.
